Colleen Delaney | President

I transferred to UNT as a Junior from a local community college. After a few semesters I finally discovered The Professional Accounting Student Society, PASS. I immediately signed up and was quickly recruited as ISACA Ambassador. Since January 2019 I’ve been the President of PASS and our mission is to expose UNT business students to the various accounting professions by developing networking opportunities with practitioners in those fields. I'm also a tutor in the Accounting Lab and a Teaching Assistant for the Accounting Department at UNT.

I will be graduating in May 2020 with my BS/MS is Accounting with an emphasis in Audit. I currently work for FC Dallas & Toyota Stadium as a part time accounting clerk. I also work for the UNT Controllers Office as an accounting intern. I accepted an Audit internship with Crowe, LLP  for the Spring 2020 semester. After graduation I will obtain my CPA license to get closer to my long-term career goal of becoming a Chief Audit Executive. Once I pass my CPA exams I will being my biggest dream of going to law school to obtain my  Juris Doctor Degree (JD). All seriousness aside, I am a cat mom of two and in my free time I enjoy scouting out fun local places to embrace my “foodie nature".

I transferred to UNT with my associates in the Fall of 2017 with the intent of pursuing a BS/MS degree in accounting. I knew that having a degree would help my career, but was surprised at the types of opportunities available specifically to accounting students. While working on my degree, I have had the pleasure of completing two amazing internships. My first internship was at Lennox International in the corporate accounting department, and my second at EY in the Financial Services Organization Tax service line. I would love to help others in gaining meaningful experiences of their own, which is the main reason I wanted to participate as a leader in PASS. Ultimately, I would love to move into more of an advisory role and start my own firm.

I am currently enrolled in my last undergraduate semester of the BS/MS in Accounting program with a focus in Audit. I currently work as an accounting intern with the UNT Controller office. I have accepted an audit internship with Whitley Penn for the Spring 2020 semester. I am set to graduate in May 2020, but hope to sit for my CPA the final semester of school. My long-term goal is to move in to forensic accounting and litigation, either with Whitley Penn or a government agency.

I am currently a Senior in the Accounting BS/MS program offered at the G. Brint Ryan College of Business. I am currently on track to graduate during December 2021 with a focus in audit. Coming from a multi-ethnic background, being able to meet and collaborate with people from various backgrounds on a constant basis is very rewarding. I believe that with a career in accounting and audit, this is indeed possible.

I am in my third year of the 5 year Accounting MS/BS program offered here at UNT. Currently my plan is to focus on audit, as well a dream of pursuing environmental/ sustainability accounting. However I am open to and excited for whatever direction life takes me. I am eager to start my career in accounting because of the multitude of opportunities that will come as well as the chance to meet and network with so many professionals. I am definitely a people person so I love meeting as many people as possible. That is why I love this organization and the UNT accounting community.

Although my college career began with three years of graphic design, I have found my place to be in accounting. Coming from a creative service background taught me to provide unique solutions to problems, collaborate with clients, and prioritize tasks for multiple projects. These skills will translate into my future career in audit and consulting. I am currently on track to graduate with my BS/MS in December of 2021 as a CMA candidate. I look forward to mastering my craft so that one day, I may teach others and lead them to do the same.

I began attending UNT in the Fall of 2017 as an International Studies major. Before my first semester was over, I switched my major to Accounting because I loved everything I heard about UNT's program. Over the past two years, I have joined multiple organizations and met so many amazing individuals with goals just like mine. Being a PASS officer has allowed me to practice various leadership skills such as public speaking, organization, and time management. I plan to graduate in the Spring of 2021 with my BS and MS in Accounting.

I am currently in the last year of my undergraduate studies at UNT. I will complete my BS/MS in accounting with a focus in audit on December of 2021. Originally, I was an engineering major who made the switch to accounting 2 years into my college career and through tedious planning and organizing, I will still be able complete my degree on time. This engineering background is very helpful, as the accounting field is a changing industry that also requires some of the newest technologies available. I chose accounting because of the vast opportunities the field has to offer and a career path that is not so black and white. When I am not focusing on my studies, I do enjoy spending time with my family and friends and going out on walks around the town.

After going through the ringer otherwise known as college, I found myself in PASS’s informational meeting. I began my membership as a finance major, but this organization has blossomed my passion into accounting. I was very unsure about switching to accounting, however, the knowledge I gained in PASS helped me along and pushed me to do better in my professional development. The network PASS provides has helped me grow my personal network outside of UNT. It has led me to outside opportunities and developed my personal brand.

I transferred to UNT from community college in Fall ‘18. I decided to major in Accounting because of the many opportunities and challenges that it brings. I became a member of PASS in Spring ‘19 and wanted to be a part of the leadership group because I was inspired by the  information it gave students about the many career paths that an Accounting degree can provide. I plan to graduate with my BS/MS in Accounting in Spring ‘21, and then obtain my CPA and CFE license as I work towards a career in external auditing and forensic accounting.

During my Sophomore year of college, I transferred from SFA to UNT to enter the BS/MS Accounting Program. Being involved in different student organizations and events really helped start the beginning of my love for accounting and opened me up to all the different opportunities it could offer. I am set to graduate in May 2021 and plan to eventually complete my CMA, CPA, and CFE. I look forward to being involved in PASS leadership and becoming a major resource for students wanting to pursue their CMA.
